One of the most common questions about carbon hoods: do you need hood pins? Here's the straight answer.
OEM-style hoods
If your carbon hood uses the factory latch and hinges (an OEM-style replacement), it doesn't strictly require pins — the stock latch holds it. Many owners run them pin-free.
When you should add pins
Add hood pins or quick-release latches if your hood is a lightweight race-style piece without a factory latch, you've removed the OEM latch, or you do high-speed/track driving. Lightweight hoods can flutter at speed, and pins are cheap insurance.
Aesthetics and safety
Pins also give a motorsport look. Whatever you choose, never rely on a damaged or misaligned latch — a hood opening at speed is dangerous.
Match the hood to your needs
Most Carbon Plug hoods are designed for factory mounting points; check each product's fitment notes, and see the catalog for your vehicle.
